Lord Ewan Cameron, Chair of the Board of Trustees for UKCEH, recently visited the UKCEH Lancaster site where the Predatory Bird Monitoring Scheme team had the opportunity to explain how the work of the scheme contributes to our understanding of pollution in the UK.
Lee Walker, who presented a poster to Lord Cameron, discussed how current monitoring carried out by the PBMS is used by UK Government to monitor progress against their 25-year Environment Plan objectives. In the latest interim report the PBMS contributes data on anticoagulant rodenticides, mercury, lead and other metals in predatory birds and there are plans to extend this to other contaminants.
