PBMS publications are also available from the NERC Open Research Archive (NORA) - the central repository for published material that have resulted from research funded by the Natural Environment Research Council.

Each bird that is submitted to the PBMS is given a postmortem examination. The observations and measurements made during these postmortems can be used to generate population health indices that can inform us about the status of recruitment and survival, physiological stress, and nutritional status in the population. Graphs of health indices with trend lines are available for barn owls and sparrowhawks.
