Seven UKCEH researchers, including two PBMS team members Lee Walker and Shinji Ozaki, took part in person at the 34th Annual Meeting of Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) Europe held from the 5th to the 9th of May 2024 in Seville, Spain.
SETAC Europe is the most important European meeting for research on chemical pollution. At the conference, five studies in which PBMS members were involved presented a wide range of themes related to understanding and managing the impacts of various chemical contaminants on wild predatory birds.
These are the posters related to the PBMS presented at the conference:
- Lee Walker, Elaine Potter, Gloria Pereira et al., Contamination of Second Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticides in the Eurasian Sparrowhawk and Assessment of Population-Level Effects in the UK.
- Shinji Ozaki, Elaine Potter, Gloria Pereira, Jacky Chaplow, Beverley Dodd, Lee Walker et al., Biomonitoring of metals and second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides at the pan-European scale from 1996 to 2021 with wild Common Buzzards (Buteo buteo).
- Paola Movalli, Shinji Ozaki, Lee Walker et al., Time trends (1996-2021) in PCB and PBDE congeners and in ΣPCBs and ΣPBDEs residue concentrations in the common buzzard Buteo buteo in 11 European countries in relation to restrictions on chemicals use.
- Holly Elizabeth, Gloria Pereira, Lee Walker et al., Using the Otter and Buzzard as Sentinels for the Assessment of Spatial and Temporal Trends in Synthetic Chemical Pollution between Contiguous Aquatic and Terrestrial Environments.
- Suzane M. Qassim, Gloria Pereira, Jacky Chaplow, Shinji Ozaki, Lee Walker, et al., Challenges and Opportunities of Building a Collaborative Chemicals Biomonitoring Framework Today, for the Chemicals of Tomorrow.
