PBMS team members Lee Walker, Gloria Pereira and Jacky Chaplow attended the Science Day for UK partners in the Partnership for the Assessment of Risks from Chemicals (PARC) project. This was a two-day event held at UK Health Security Agency training facilities on the Harwell Science and Innovation campus on 18th and 19th November 2025. In this meeting, academics, regulators and policy-makers met to discuss activities within the PARC project and, more broadly, issues and approaches to assessing the risk that chemicals may pose to humans, wildlife and their shared environment.
Jacky Chaplow presented a talk on ‘Data Integration and Visualisation project activity’ which included examples of these approaches using data generated by the PBMS as a case study.
“PARC UK is an active group of governmental and academic research organisations focused on improving our ability to assess chemical risk”, Lee Walker comments “UK partners are involved in several pan-European projects funded through the PARC programme. This annual Science Day gives us an opportunity to catch up on progress of the PARC projects but also to engage in discussions with some of the main stakeholders involved in this area of research.”
The Partnership for the Assessment of Risks from Chemicals aims to develop next-generation chemical risk assessment to protect human health and the environment. It supports the European Union's Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability and the European Green Deal's “Zero pollution” ambition with new data, knowledge, methods and tools, expertise and networks.
