Richard Shore attended the annual December meeting of the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use (CRRU) on December 18th. CRRU run the stewardship programme for anticoagulant rodenticides, and this includes providing a raft of training and associated downloadable information.
Richard discussed the findings of our most recent monitoring of anticoagulant rodenticide residues in barn owls and in red kites; the reports can be found here.
CRRU funds the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH) as an independent organisation to carry out monitoring of anticoagulant rodenticides residues in barn owls; the samples from the owls are provided by the PBMS. The monitoring provides evidence to the Government Oversight Group (GOG) as to whether there are any changes in the secondary exposure of barn owls that may be associated with activities under stewardship.
