The first report on second generation anticoagulant rodenticide (SGAR) residues in barn owl livers since the introduction of the UK Rodenticide Stewardship Regime was published yesterday. The analysis, carried out by the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology using samples gathered as part of the Predatory Bird Monitoring Scheme, is one of five monitoring elements that is being used to measure the success of the stewardship initiative, which aims to reduce exposure to SGARs in wildlife.
Publication of the report was announced by the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use in a press release today on their website at: http://www.thinkwildlife.org/press-centre/.
